I'm Dr Helen Harrington, the founder of REMY Skincare.
I firmly believe in a healthier personal care industry that you can trust. My vision is to formulate and promote naturally based products with key ingredients based upon sound scientific research.
Through REMY Skincare we will share research and hopefully inspire readers toward effective products that promote beautiful skin.
Why We Developed a Combined Skincare Product
How it started
I was working in academia following the arrival of our first child and then became a full-time mum after the birth of our second child. It was at this time that I started experiencing or certainly noticing increasing signs of aging in my skin which was inevitable with being over 30 years of age (okay now 40), taking more care of the kids than myself, and the toll of having to deal with two children who wouldn’t sleep through the night. Like many of you, I didn’t know a lot about the truth behind the health and beauty products on the market but wanted an easy-to-use yet effective product. That’s when I set out to create healthy skincare solutions to reduce wrinkles and fine lines that is easy to perform.
What motivated me?
Being a science geek (I’m proud of this!) and having extensive laboratory experience in growing epithelial cells, I couldn't help but scrutinize the ingredients more than most people. Knowing that the key to successful epithelial cell growth was a result of the cells receiving their nutrients to grow from underlying tissue and having the right nutrients I began to research dietary supplements. Normally, we provide these essential nutrients through our diet but sometimes due to a hectic lifestyle and poor eating habits we deprive our body of the vitamins, minerals, and other supplements it needs to stay in its optimal shape. Aging is another factor that requires additional nutrition to compensate for a decline in nutrient absorption and the loss of the body’s natural ability to produce proteins such as collagen, a crucial component required for healthy, youthful skin.
To my surprise, there were very few non-gimmicky options available in the health and beauty industry that worked well. So, I decided to create meaningful, science-based yet natural skincare products and founded REMY, a company dedicated to this very purpose.
