    Benefits of Ingredients

Rebalance My Skin: Night-time Menopausal Assistance Face Serum

    Niacinamaide (Vitamin B3)

Niacinamide improves the skin's surface structure by increasing ceramide synthesis. The skin's uppermost layer acts as a barrier
and is the first line of defence against external factors such as pollution, sunlight, and toxins; it is comprised of a lipid bilayer in which ceramides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids bind the layers together.
Niacinamide helps increase ceramide synthesis and as such is a key player in maintaining the skin's barrier function and in turn prevents moisture loss, dryness and reduces the risk of irritation.

    Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil

Helianthus annuus seed oil is commonly known as sunflower oil and is made up of an array of fatty acids predominantly linoleic acid but also oleic acid, stearic acid, and palmitic acid as well as being rich in vitamins A, C, D, and E plus sterols, and squalene. Linoleic acid is beneficial for dry, itchy, irritated, and dehydrated skin as it helps to restore the skin's barrier function that depletes as we age or is compromised due to environmental factors or hormonal changes. Linoleic acid assists the skin to synthesise its own ceramides (lipids or fats found in skin cells) which hold the barrier together leading to more hydrated, smoother, healthier-looking skin.

    Retinyl palmitate (vitamin A)

Topical vitamin A stimulates skin cell turnover which increases collagen and elastin production. By increasing cell turnover, vitamin A can help minimise uneven skin tone and skin dullness and speed up the healing of acne breakouts whilst the increase in collagen and elastin production reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improves skin elasticity respectively.

    d-panthenol (pro-vitamin B5)

d-panthenol is a precursor to vitamin B5, in this form it easily enters the skin where your body will quickly convert it into
pantothenic acid which will then be used to hydrate and moisturise the skin by restoring the skin's natural barrier and retain hydration and so reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

B-vitamins have anti- inflammatory properties and help negate the results of oxidative stress caused by factors such as pollution or sun exposure which can result in redness or roughness of the skin.

    Tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E)

Vitamin E is an essential nutrient that contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. During hormonal changes of the menopause vitamin E that is normally produced and kept in balance by your skin's natural oils (sebum) may be lacking, resulting in drier skin.
Rebalancing the Vitamin E available to your skin may help prevent the dryness associated with menopausal skin issues.

    Sodium Hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid)

A gentler version of the more well-known hyaluronic acid so kinder to skin that could be sensitive due to hormonal changes. This salt derivative of hyaluronic acid can penetrate the skin more deeply than hyaluronic acid and is used to help to retain moisture within the skin so your skin becomes optimally but gently hydrated with a healthy plumpness that can visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

    Soybean Oil

Soybean oil helps to reduce skin thinness and increase collagen and elastin production associated with a decrease in estrogen levels which decline naturally during the menopause.

As well as containing linoleic acid and vitamin E, soybean oil is a rich source of isoflavones having 50 % genistein 40% daidzein, and 10% glycitein. Isoflavones are unique phytoestrogens (phyto meaning plant) that are similar to estrogen. Genistein, in particular, helps to rebalance the effects of low estrogen. Genistein contributes to a more youthful appearance by keeping moisture locked in by supporting the structural and functional integrity of the skin’s barrier and protects the skin from oxidative stress which can result in hyperpigmentation or uneven skin tone.
Genistein can also increase collagen and elastin production to keep skin supple and elastic and rebalance sebum production to counteract any over or under-production of sebum that can result in oily or dry skin respectively.

Rebalance My Skin: Menopausal Assistance for Skin Food Supplement

    Vitamin B2

This vitamin is known as riboflavin which is a key component in the maintenance and repair of skin cells and tissue, it can help heal wounds and reduce skin inflammation so great for conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. Vitamin B2 helps to maintain collagen levels, which are known to decrease during menopause and so help to prevent fine lines and wrinkles.

    Vitamin B3

Niacin, when digested, is a multitasking vitamin that boosts cellular energy and regulates a cellular enzyme that has an important role in DNA repair and keeps the signaling of inflammation in check.  Therefore, Vitamin B2 can help balance the effects of many skin conditions particularly those related to inflammation such as acne, rosacea, and dermatitis.

    Vitamins B9 and B12

Vitamin B9 generally known as folic acid and Vitamin B12 is not produced by the body and needs to be consumed via food sources, leafy green vegetables are a great source.

The body becomes less effective at absorbing these vitamins particularly, vitamin B12 as we age which in relation to the skin may lead to breakouts of acne, eczema, and psoriasis. To account for the body being less effective at absorbing these vitamins it is a good idea to increase the consumption of food sources that contain them, such as supplementing a healthy diet with a nutrient capsule so that there are more opportunities for the body to encounter and absorb the vitamins.

Both vitamins B9 and B12 have a central role in your body’s cellular metabolism. They support the process of methylation which then allows your body to complete its processes such as cell replication, DNA synthesis, and repair. The repair of cellular DNA in the skin that may have been damaged over time by UV light or pollutants can help reduce the signs of aging by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, improving skin elasticity, and decreasing roughness.

    Vitamin A

Dietary Vitamin A can help prevent cell damage and skin aging by protecting the skin from adverse environmental factors like pollution and UV radiation. Vitamin A also improves the moisture content and elasticity of the skin by increasing collagen production leading to a more youthful appearance.

    Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an important antioxidant shown to have photoprotective properties meaning the antioxidant activity protects against UV- induced (usually sun exposure) damage caused by free radicals.

As a result of vitamin C’s ability to as a reducing agent and to scavenge free radicals it prevents excessive cell damage and oxidative stress; coupled with its involvement in the production of collagen it leads to vitamin C being able to decrease the appearance of wrinkles and age-related skin dryness to keep skin smooth and supple.

    Vitamin E

Vitamin E acts as an anti- inflammatory and antioxidant which contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. It is most effective when coupled with the consumption of vitamin C to help scavenge free radicals and keep the skin safe from sun damage which is a main cause of the appearance of wrinkles.

    Collagen

Collagen naturally occurs in the body yet its production declines with age making dietary intake more important particularly if you are seeking a smoother, more youthful appearance.

    Zinc

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of healthy cell membranes and their barrier function; it is required for the healthy division and growth of the main skin cells called epidermal keratinocytes and may help slow down the rate of collagen breakdown.

Soya Bean Extract 40% Genistein (Glycine max)

Genistein is a phytoestrogen derived from soy and acts to rebalance the effects of lowered estrogenic production during menopause. As estrogen receptors are present in skin cells the decline of estrogen throughout perimenopause has a profound effect on the skin, in particular its collagen content, dermal thickness, and elasticity. By supplementing with genistein which is a plant-based estrogen that binds to estrogen receptors it may improve changes to the skin associated with lowered estrogen levels.
